Knitting mini 100% Wool Bunting
I knitted wool bunting using small sewing needles (knitters needles) to create tiny bunting for the tea cosy design.
Tea Cosy Pattern
Grey Wool Tea Cosy
I used lovely grey 100% British Breed Wool to knit and design this tea cosy. The wool knitted up beautifully.
You will need:
1 25g ball of double knit 100% British Breed Wool.
Grey or white wool pom pom.
Knitting needles size 4.5mm (UK 7. US 7).
Method:
Cast on 30 stitches using the grey wool.
Knit 3 rows garter stitch (knit stitches, no purl).
Knit stocking stitch (1 row knit, 1 row purl) until the work measures (16.5cm) 6.5 inches.
Shape the top.
K2tog to the end of the row. You should now have 15 stitches.
Purl the next row.
K1, K2tog to the end of the row. (10 stitches).
Bind off.
Make two of these.
Sew the tea cosy:
With right sides together use grey yarn and a knitters needle to sew the side seams. Start at the top and sew down 7.5cm (3 inches). Leave a gap. Sew up 2.5cm (1 inch) from the bottom of the seam. This leaves a gap in the side seam for the teapot spout and handle. Sew both side seams the same.
Sew the top of the tea cosy together.
Turn the tea cosy right sides out.
Sew on the pom pom.
Knit the sheep:
Cast on 16 stitches using white yarn.
Knit 18 rows of garter stitch.
Row 19 – K1, K2tog across the row. K1. (You should now have 11 stitches).
Row 20 – K1, K2 tog across the row. K2tog. (7 stitches).
Bind off.
Fold in two and sew edges together with white yarn to form the body of the sheep.
Cut out the head and legs using black felt and sew these on to the body (template here). The sheep can then be sewn on to the tea cosy.
