Knit a Two-Tone Poncho

This is an easy to knit poncho. It drapes well, and is light and comfortable to wear. It’s knitted in garter stitch using large needles to create an open, lacy effect. (I used blue and white yarn, but you could use a single colour if you prefer).

You will need:

1 100g ball blue double knit yarn.
1 100g ball white double knit yarn.
Knitting needles size 10mm (UK 000. US 15).

Method:

Cast on 3 stitches.
K1, K1fb (increase 1 stitch, knitting into the front and back of the stitch), knit to the end of the row.
Repeat this row (increasing 1 stitch per row) until you have 100 stitches.
Bind off.
Knit two of these triangular shaped pieces. The front and back are the same size.

Make the poncho:

Sew the two triangles together along the bind off edges, leaving a 26cm (10 inch) gap for the neck opening. Use yarn and a knitters needle or darning needle to sew it together.

If you want, you could add fringes or little pom poms around the edges of the poncho.
