These knitted gauntlets measure 28cm x 12cm (approx 11 inches x 4 3/4 inches). They are a substantial medium size.
You will need:
1 ball of white double knit yarn.
1 ball of metallic gold yarn.
Knitting needles size 6mm (UK 4. US 10).
Method:
Cast on 120 stitches with white yarn.
Row 1 — K2tog across the row. (60 stitches).
Row 2 — Knit.
Row 3 — K2tog across the row. (30 stitches).
Row 4 — Knit.
Knit 4cm (1.5 inches) of rib (knit 2, purl 2).
Knit 2.5cm (1 inch) garter stitch.
Add gold yarn (knitting with the white and gold yarn together) and knit 20cm (8 inches) garter stitch (knit stitches, no purl).
Bind off.
With right sides together fold the rectangle in two lengthways.
Use yarn to stitch the side seam leaving a gap for the thumb. Do this by sewing 20cm (8 inches) from the bottom of the warmer and up the side of the warmer. Leave a gap. Then sew 3cm (1 1/4 inches) from the top down.
Turn right sides out.
Make two of these.
