Snowdrop Scarf

Knitted in snowdrop stitch and edged with snowdrops.

The scarf is 28cm x 102cm (11 inches x 40 inches).

You will need:

White double knit yarn. (I used a 200g ball).
Green yarn to make the snowdrops (optional).
Knitting needles size 4.5 (UK 7. US 7).
Knitting needles size 4mm (UK 8. US 6) (for the snowdrops).

Method:

Cast on 45 stitches.
Row 1 – K1, *yo (yarn over), sl 1 (slip one stitch purlwise), K2tog, psso (pass slip stitch over), yo, K5. Repeat this from * to the last 4 stitches on the row, then yo, sl 1, K2tog, psso, yo, K1.
Row 2 – Purl.
Row 3 – Repeat row 1.
Row 4 – Repeat row 2.
Row 5 – K4, *yo, sl 1, K1, psso, K1, K2tog, yo, K3. Repeat this from * to the last stitch, K1.snowdrop3 Row 6 – Purl.
Row 7 – K1, *yo, sl 1, K2tog, psso, yo, K1.
Row 8 – Purl.
Repeat rows 1–8 until the scarf measures 102cm (40 inches).
Bind off.

Make the snowdrop:

Cast on 6 stitches using 4mm knitting needles and white yarn.
Row 1 – Knit.
Row 2 – Purl.
Row 3 – K1, kfb, k2, kfb, k1 (8 stitches).
Row 4 – Purl.
Row 5 – Knit.
Row 6 – Purl.
Row 7 – K1, K2tog, K2, K2tog, k1 (6).
Row 8 – Change to green yarn. Purl.
Row 9 – Knit.
Row 10 – Purl.
Row 11 – K2tog across the row. (3).
Bind off.
Make 12 of these.

Use yarn to sew the snowdrop together along one seam. You’ll only need to sew part of the way down. Push the white yarn through the top of the snowdrop and sew it on to the pointed edges of the scarf.
