Depending on the fabric, the pieces may be in different layouts. The image below is an example of the parts you’ll need to cut from the fabric.

You will need to cut the following pieces from the fabric:

1 piece of fabric for the apron – 70cm (27.5 inches) x 55cm (21.5 inches).

2 pieces of fabric for the waist straps – 7.5cm (3 inches) x 85cm (33.5 inches).

1 piece of fabric for the neck strap – 7.5cm (3 inches) x 61cm (24 inches).

2 pieces of fabric for the pockets – 17cm (6.5 inches) x 17cm (6.5 inches).

2 pieces of fabric for lining the pockets – 17cm (6.5 inches) x 17cm (6.5 inches).

Note: This apron measures approximately 20cm (8 inches) x 51cm (20 inches) x 67cm ( 26.5 inches) when finished.

Method:

Sew around the edges

Press a hem around the edges of the apron, turning in a small allowance. Then fold this in again to create a tidy finish to the apron edges. Press this flat. Ironing this makes it easier to sew. Sew along the full length of the apron and right around the edges including the hemline. (as shown).

Make the pockets

With right sides together, using a small seam allowance, sew the lining to the pockets. Sew around the edges of the pockets, leaving a gap for turning. Turn the pockets the right sides out. Sew the gap shut. Press the pockets.

Sew the pockets on

Position the pockets 3 inches (8cm) from the bottom hem of the apron and 1.5 inches (4cm) apart in the centre. Or you can place the pockets where you want them.

Sew around the edges of the pockets. Make sure they are extra secure at the top edge corners.

Make the apron straps

Press the edges of the apron straps in to create a quarter inch hem. Fold the straps over and iron them flat. There should be a fold down the centre with the edges tucked in (as shown). Sew along the full length of the straps near the edge. Press the apron straps flat.
