These are an autumn leaves design variation of the Pumpkin Wrist Warmers.
You will need:
Brown yarn – double knit.
Orange yarn – double knit.
Metallic orange gold colour yarn.
Metallic copper colour yarn.
Metallic pale gold yarn.
Gold beads to decorate.
Knitting needles size 4.5mm (UK 7. US 7).
Knitting needles size 4mm (UK 8. US 6).
Method:
Cast on 32 stitches with 4.5mm knitting needles using the brown yarn and metallic orange gold yarn together.
Knit 5cm (2 inches) rib (knit 2, purl 2).
Change to orange yarn.
Knit 10cm (4 inches) garter stitch (knit stitches, no purl).
Bind off.
With right sides together fold the wrist warmer over and use yarn to stitch the side seam leaving a gap for the thumb. Do this by sewing 10cm (4 inches) from the bottom of the rib cuff up the side of the warmer. Leave a gap. Then sew 3cm (1 1/4 inches) from the top down.
Turn the wrist warmer right sides out.
Make two of these.
Make the leaves:
Use knitting needles size 4mm and pale gold yarn. Cast on 2 stitches.
Knit 1 row.
K1, M1 (make 1 stitch), K1. (You should now have 3 stitches).
K1, M1, K1, M1, K1 (5).
Knit 1 row.
K1, M1, K3, M1, K1 (7).
Knit 1 row.
K2, M1, K3, M1, K2 (9).
Knit 1 row.
K1, K2tog, K3, K2tog, K1 (7).
K1, K2tog, K1, K2tog, K1 (5).
Knit 1 row.
K1, K2tog, K1, K1 (4).
Knit 1 row.
K1, K2tog, K1 (3).
K2tog, K1 (2).
K2tog (1).
Bind off leaving a long tail to create the pleated stem.
Make an orange gold leaf and a copper leaf.
Sew the leaves on to the wrist warmer.
Pleat the three strands of metallic yarn tails to create a stem. Knot the end of the stem, push it through to the inside of the warmer and secure with a few small stitches.
Decorate with gold beads.
Repeat this for the other wrist warmer.
