Silver Tinsel Tea Cosy

 Tinsel Tea Cosy

Knitted in garter stitch with silver yarn that is light and easy to knit with.

You will need:

1 50g ball of chunky tinsel yarn.
Knitting needles size 4.5 (UK 7. US 7).

Method:

Cast on 30 stitches.
Knit rows of garter stitch (knit stitches, no purl) until the work measures 15cm (6 inches).
Shape the top of the tea cosy.
K1, K2tog to the end of the row. (20 stitches).
K1, K2tog. Repeat to the last 4 stitches. K2tog, K2tog. (13 stitches).
Bind off.
Knit two of these.

Sew the tea cosy:

With right sides together use the silver yarn and a knitters needle or embroidery needle to sew the sides seams. Start at the top and sew down 3 inches (7.5cm). Leave a gap. Sew up 1 inch (2.5cm) from the bottom of the seam. This leaves a gap in the middle of the side seams for the teapot spout and handle. Sew both side seams the same.
Sew the top of the tea cosy together.
Turn the tea cosy right sides out.
Make a silver pom pom and sew it on to the top of the tea cosy or add the little Christmas Pudding Bauble.
